SPRING LAWN CARE TIPS

CLEAN MULCH BEDS:
Mulch beds need to be blown out, old mulch removed, weeds pulled, and preen applied to ensure a healthy bed throughout the season.

While perennial flowers sometimes will successfully break through a thick layer of mulch, other times damage will result. Leaving mulch on top of your perennial flowers can smother them. It’s time to remove the mulch to let your perennials breathe. Once the perennial flowers have pushed up, so that you know where they are, you can re-apply mulch.

MULCH/DECORATIVE STONE:
Apply mulch or decorative stone in spring.
A new application of mulch or touch up of decorative stone each spring is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

PREEN MULCH BEDS:
Applying preen will suppress weed growth in your mulch beds. Preen should be applied ever 6 to 8 weeks starting before the first weed growth and continuing through the growing season.

PRUNING:
Cut back foliage, remove dead branches and shape canopys on shrubs and hedges before installing mulch or decorative stone. Some bushes and shrubs should not be cut back until they have bloomed for the first time.

Although the optimal time for our fall clean up services is October through the first snowfall. The second best time for these services to be performed is early Spring.
